Dear ATI2011 Participant:
Welcome! And happy summer to you.
Enclosed please find two techGoodies: a copy of NWP’s Because Digital Writing Matters (BDWM) and your own coveted RWP jumpdrive. Don’t lose them.
Do you feel special? pampered? Do you feel like one of those Hollywood types with a phat swag bag? Good! Because now we feel less guilty about assigning homework. Plus this is all for your own good.
Before you attend our first session on Monday, August 8, please have completed the following tasks:
- Read pages 1-59 in BDWM.
- Identify the ideas presented in these pages that intrigue you most, and talk about why. Please bring an electronic version of your written response to our first ATI session.
- In order to begin formulating an inquiry question, we also need to ask you to consider a few questions. Please bring an electronic version (RWP jumpdrive, email, both?) of your written response to our first ATI session.
- What areas of your curriculum do you want to revise with a tech component?
- OR if you are uncertain, with which areas of your curriculum are you currently dissatisfied? What in your practice is making you unhappy, and how might a technology component make you happy?
- Finally, please bring 4-5 pictures of you, loved ones, pets, places, whatever--images that can be used for an introductory collage we will share with each other—on the enclosed jumpdrive (maybe emailed, too, just in case of technical difficulties).
More information will follow, details like where we will meet and what to do about lunch and the like. In the meantime, please feel free to contact us if we can answer any questions or provide any clarification.
We are very much looking forward to our time together. It’s going to be a great institute.
